Surgery Day...

Peek-a-boo!
Oooh... what is this?

The pants were way too big!
Tyler had surgery this morning... he was born with one undescended testicle (I know, I know... too much information but I thought you might wonder why he was having surgery)!. We were told that if it didn't drop on it's own, he would need surgery. When we went to see the surgeon after his 9 month check-up, he told us that Tyler would need the surgery. There are several reasons that the doctor recommended the surgery... one is that he has a higher risk of testicular cancer-- he has to be checked yearly for this and it's much easier to check if the surgery is done. An undescended testicle would also increase his chance of infertility. It is also more prone to injury if left untreated. Needless to say, he was scheduled for surgery.
We had to be at the hospital at 6am so it was a very early morning. His surgery was scheduled for 8am. We played in the pre-op area in the crib for about an hour and half before they took him back. The surgery took a little longer than they had expected but all went well. We were told it would take an hour and after almost 2 hours of not hearing anything, I was getting really worried! Jeff kept telling me everything was fine but how did he know?!? The doctor finally came out to talk with us and give us the good news. He also gave us the name of a pediatric surgeon in Chicago-- he has to get checked every 6 months for the next 2 years. We went back to the recovery area about 10:30am and were there for a few hours. He was pretty groggy and still needed some oxygen. We finally left the hospital around 1:30pm. Tyler slept for quite awhile after we got home and was still pretty out of it. He woke up around 4:30pm, ate dinner and then was full of energy... back to his old self. Jeff and I couldn't believe how well he seemed to be doing. He climbed the stairs and was walking around everywhere! He is just on Tylenol and Motrin... and that seems crazy to us after seeing the 2 incisions- they were much bigger than we had expected. We hope he continues to do this well over the next few days. Poor little guy!

Pool Time!!

We took Tyler to the community pool last weekend since we only have a few weekends left here in Florida. We are definitely going to miss this pool. It's a beach entry pool, which is perfect for Tyler. He loves splashing around in the water and playing with his toys. I guess he'll never experience the water slide there- still a little too young. Looks like a lot of fun though!

Chicago Here We Come...

Well, it's official... we are moving to Chicago! Jeff was working there a few weeks ago so Tyler and I flew there to meet him and look for houses. We have already starting packing and the movers are coming in less than a month... so much to do! We decided to look outside of the city (we really wanted a house with a yard for Tyler and the dogs). We decided to rent for the first year or so and found a house in Naperville, about 30 minutes from the city. We are really excited (just not about packing again)! Just hope I feel the same way when winter rolls around!! :)

Tyler didn't have too many toys in the hotel room so he found another way to occupy his time...

Easter and 11 months old!

He really loved the Easter Bunny! He kept looking up at him and pulling on his fur. I'm surprised he didn't reach for his glasses- that's his favorite game with Jeff. (He loves to take his glasses on and off in the morning. )
I actually think he was a little mad when it was time to leave and I took him. :)

Tyler loves to swing!
Walking everywhere!!

Keely and Bella loved their new toy from the Easter Bunny.

Tyler loves playing ball- especially with Keely and Bella if they are in the mood to play.
He loves his bunny balloon. He pulls it around everywhere he goes.

Vegas, Vegas...

We went to Vegas for Kim and Ryan's 30th birthdays in March. Both of our families were there. It was such a quick trip but a lot of fun... although, it was very different being there with kids! We had great weather and had a blast in the pool with the kids. Nana, Papa, Kristin & Kenzie baby-sat Tyler Friday night so that we could go out to celebrate Kim & Ryan's birthdays. It was so great to see everyone!

Kim and Ryan's Birthday dinner.

Too much fun at the pool...

I love to eat...
Don't forget me!

Tyler's First Spring Training Game

We took Tyler to his first spring training game this year in Lakeland, FL. The Tigers were playing the Phillies. It was really hot that day so we didn't stay the whole game but it was a lot of fun. Tyler got his very first Tigers baseball hat.... now if we could only get him to keep it on! And Daddy caught him his first foul ball!
