Tyler Jerry was born on May 24, 2010 at 1:33am. He weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. I woke up at 6:45am Sunday morning and was feeling a lot of back pain (but nothing very consistent). The movers had finished the night before so I spent the day unpacking, cleaning, etc... When the pain started to become more regular and closer to 5-6 minutes apart, we went to the hospital. We dropped my dad off at the airport to catch his flight and then got to the hospital around 3:00pm. I was 4 cm dilated so they moved us to a labor and delivery room. Since it was the
real thing, my dad decided not to go home and took a cab to the hospital and surprised us. I continued to just have back labor until I got my epidural (I never did really feel any contractions in my stomach until the very end when I was pushing). I got the epidural around 7:30pm when I was about 5-6 cm dilated. Then, my doctor broke my water, hoping to get things going. The doctor came back around midnight and said she thought my contractions had slowed and that I may need something to speed things along. We were all surprised when she checked me and I was 10 cm and ready to push! I pushed for a little over an hour but it seemed pretty fast to me. It was so exciting to see him and hear that first cry... I was able to hold him right away and then they took him to get cleaned up, checked, etc... It was so nice because they do all of that right in the room with you so I could see the entire time. I still can't believe he is here!
